Weight Assessment and Counseling for Nutrition and Physical Activity for Children/Adolescents (WCC)

This Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)1 measure looks at the percentage of members who had an outpatient visit with a primary care or obstetrics/ gynecology (OB/GYN) provider and who had evidence of the following during the measurement year:

  • BMI percentile measurement
  • Counseling for nutrition
  • Counseling for physical activity

Who was measured?
PrimeWest Health members age 3 – 17 as of December 31 of the measurement year who were continuously enrolled during the measurement year with no more than one 45-day gap in enrollment and who had an outpatient visit with a primary care provider or obstetrics provider in the measurement year were measured.

What can providers do?
Providers can help increase PrimeWest Health's rates in this area by encouraging member’s parents/legal guardians to schedule annual wellness visits for their child/adolescent and by providing education about the importance of these visits.
