Childhood Immunization Status (CIS)

There are many immunizations recommended for children to help prevent illness and disease. This Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®)1 measure follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) guidelines for immunizations. It looks at the percentage of children who had the following vaccines by their 2nd birthday:

  • Four diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (DTaP)
  • Three polio (IPV)
  • One measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
  • Two H influenza type B (HiB)
  • Three hepatitis B (HepB)
  • One chicken pox (VZV)
  • Four pneumococcal conjugate (PCV)
  • One hepatitis A (HepA)
  • Two or three rotavirus (RV) (the number of doses depends on which vaccine is given)
  • Two influenza (flu)

Who was measured?
PrimeWest Health members who turned 2 years old during the measurement year who were continuously enrolled for 12 months prior to their 2nd birthday and had no more than one 45-day gap in enrollment during this time were measured.

What can providers do?
PrimeWest Health urges providers to recommend all of these important vaccines to children's parents/guardians.
